POSITION

The first step was to strategically position the building on the site, establishing a clear landmark capable of commanding the hilly, shrub-covered landscape. The project is organized within a compact 14 × 14 m square that concentrates the entire program on a single level.

PASSAGE

The second step introduced a passage cutting through the square, defining an intuitive point of entry and exit while separating public and private areas within. This gesture breaks the box, giving it permeability and allowing the exterior to flow through the built volume.

REACTION

The passage creates two additional spatial axes that reorganize the original square and guide the internal layout through a centrifugal composition. As a result, each room opens toward a distinct environment—distant views, sunny or shaded terraces, native vegetation, or the valley beyond. This centrifugal pattern also enables natural ventilation: summer winds circulate freely throughout the house, and under the protection of the concrete slab, residents can withstand the season’s intense heat without relying on air conditioning.

STEREOTOMIC

The house is built entirely with a single structural system: double masonry walls in handcrafted brick supporting a concrete roof slab. Conceiving the project through this traditional, economical, and robust construction method provides significant inertia against gravity (earthquakes), weather, and time, ensuring both solidity and longevity.
